What is next for menswear? After the influx of high-sole sneakers, a logo mania, and a craze of animal graphics that even Dior Men cannot resist, Kim Jones might just have the right answer: a reset on maximalism, and a return to the quintessence of the art of couture tailoring.

But not just any tailoring, as important as it is to the virtuosic designer and to the heritage savoir-faire of the Dior Ateliers. Jones is conceiving modern tailoring in a new exclusive capsule collection that coalesces Dior Men’s iconic house codes of formal aesthetics with his own contemporary, edgy bent, through reintegration and deconstruction.

At the forefront of this modern tailoring line is its casualness and accessibility, the styles of the jackets as well as the pants are formatted to versatile daily menswear suited for various moods and occasions. Yet they are sophisticated enough to induce an allure of Parisian elegance, through a daring but subtle mix-and-match pairings. Looking closer, each piece stands out for its structured cut and modern, streamlined silhouettes: the double-breasted jacket adorned with a signature cross strap, the workwear jacket that channels a sleek, androgynous attitude, and a signature harrington-shaped blouson in fitted profile that combines finesse and comfort.

Looking down further, we see the pleated suit pant textured with a relaxed fit, the chino revisited with the prince of wales check pattern, the jogger that nods to an ideal, gentle way of life, and the new B27 sneakers that offer a finishing touch to complete the modern tailoring.

The singular capsule’s styles are endlessly reinvented through sophisticated but daring twists, but it’s Jones’ exacting attention to details that really embodies “dress to impress”. The top outerwear designs are refined by a black branded pin, buttons from the iconic Dior Bar suit jacket, and, for the first time ever, a signature Dior Men cannage motif lining on the fabric. Overall, made from materials including black virgin wool, micro houndstooth, and mohair canvas, the emblematic line celebrates the house’s rich heritage of impeccable menswear, reinterpreted with Jones’ neoteric vision on modern tailoring.

Though tailoring isn’t often done by this generation’s men, but Dior Men is certainly championing the new menswear trend by creating a new look of tailoring for the modern men to exalt. For that mission, Jones pulled all the punches in a campaign photographed by the ultra-modern Brett Lloyd, featuring actors Arnaud Valois and Jérémie Laheurte, model and designer Younes Bendjima, and artist Kailand Morris who all emulate the essence of the collection. “Think tailored pants with sneakers and suit jackets with t-shirts” is often the heuristic people use when they think of casual menswear catered for daily wear. Together, these friends and muses of Dior redefine and revere the timelessness of modern tailoring in the next chapter of menswear more than ever.
