As the world’s oldest film festival, the Venice International Film Festival occupies a particularly special place in today’s art world. Founded in Venice, Italy in 1932, the event has provided filmmakers across the globe with a prominent platform to freely express themselves through their works. However, considering the fact that the festival is held in one of the most glamorous cities in the world and is attended by a host of the planet’s biggest and brightest stars, it’s no wonder that it has become a showcase for fashion too. So far, this year has only served to continue that trend.
As she made her way through the Palazzo de Cinema, Dame Helen Mirren stunned in a light turquoise Dolce & Gabbana sequin gown with a matching mask and headband, while Penelope Cruz looked ethereal in a black and white Chanel Haute Couture ballgown. The stars of the upcoming sci-fi film Dune provided a near-endless array of jaw-dropping looks, with Zendaya in a beige draped custom Balmain dress and Timothée Chalamet in a sparkly black Haider Ackermann suit standing out on the carpet. Last Night in Soho lead Anya Taylor-Joy looked pretty in pink not once, but twice, as she donned a barbie-pink Dior gown with a matching hat, as well as a rose-colored Rodarte frock. Needless to say, with all of these awe-inspiring looks, there is no shortage of glamour and intrigue on the Venice red carpet this year.
