CR 8 Cover Star, Bentley Mescall

Fresh face Bentley Mescall joins the likes of Gigi Hadid as one of four American models to land the cover of CR Fashion Book Issue 8, which hits newsstands on February 26th. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, the 14-year old model was discovered last summer after her mom posted her photograph on Facebook. Her first stop on the road to making it big was a recent contract with IMG Models and although she’s too young walk the runway just yet, we’re tapping her as high fashion’s next rising star. Introducing Bentley:
Tell us about your cover shoot:
“It was really exciting getting to come to New York for the cover shoot. Felix Cooper is one of my favorite photographers and Carine and her team are always amazing. I wasn’t too nervous because I’d met everyone before, there was a very laid-back atmosphere on set, and there was awesome music playing the whole time. I loved that the clothes were mostly black and white. Felix is really sweet and makes me feel comfortable. He also always dresses really cool and has the coolest shoes on.”
What does it mean to you to be an American girl?
“I am totally an all-American girl and love having the freedom to travel this huge country and see so many different landscapes and so many different types of people. The best place I’ve been to so far is Big Sur.”
Your favorite modeling career moment so far?
“Every time I work with Carine is a career highlight for me!”
What is the best modeling advice you ever received?
“The best advice is always from my mom. She’s on every shoot, signaling to me from behind the scenes to relax my hands and to stop eating my lipstick off.”
Who are your role models?
“My whole family are my role models. From my parents to my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. They’re all so creative and supportive.”
What would people be most surprised to know about you?
“I’m obsessed with Spongebob Squarepants.”
Favorite designers?
“I’m really into sneakers, particularly ones from Nike and Adidas. I would die for a pair of black Yeezy’s.”
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
“I hang out with my friends and family and play basketball and volleyball. I also love to swim.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
“Hopefully traveling the world and pursuing my modeling career.”
What’s next on the horizon for you?
“I’m still at the beginning of my career and am pretty young so we’re taking it slow in terms of modeling, but personally I hope to get to the state tournament in basketball.”
