Carine and amfAR Announce CR Runway ‘Fashion Unites:’ A Special Runway Event to Fight COVID-19

Carine is marking the second edition of CR Runway with Fashion Unites, a global, charitable event featuring a first-of-its-kind fashion show set to debut May 1 via YouTube. Created in partnership with amfAR, the virtual runway will raise awareness for the organization’s Fund to Fight COVID-19, with many of the participating creatives also making personal donations to the cause. Fashion Unites will be hosted by YouTube’s director of fashion and beauty, Derek Blasberg, and highlight over 40 of fashion’s biggest names including Kim Kardashian West, Amber Valletta, Karlie Kloss, Diane von Fürstenberg, Marc Jacobs, and a number of other models and designers.

Fashion Unites is a creative, collaborative effort, with each component self-filmed in the various models’ and contributors’ homes. Along with the runway show, styled by Carine and her team, the event will also give a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Fashion Unites, accompanied by uplifting messages from designers and others in honor of the frontline workers at the heart of this pandemic.

“As we face times of great uncertainty, our support for one another is more important than ever,” Carine said. “Embracing fashion as the creative expression through which to support the health and safety of our global communities, we hope this show can offer a small moment of hope, inspiration, and uplifting connection. A modest contribution as our world unites to collectively weather the storm of this pandemic together.”

While presented in a completely new format, Fashion United marks a return to the runway for Carine and amfAR. For eight years, Carine has styled the nonprofit’s annual amfAR Cannes Runway Show. For this new project, both parties once again show the impact of fashion for good as Fashion Unites brings the global community together for a significant cause.
