Haute Couture on a Day in Paris

START
body

Nothing is more arduous than Haute Couture, a craft in which a seemingly simple ensemble can take up to months to create. (For example, a hand-embroidered, gold sequin creation last season by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior reportedly took nearly 800 hours and a team of eight to finish. And that was just for one gown.) Given all of this calamity of creativity, intricacy technical skills, and high level of high fashion stress, CR thought it would be nice to look at Haute Couture in a new, quiet light. Shown here—days after their runway debut—Fall 2018‘s pieces seem to find a romantic calmness in this brisk walk around Paris. Photographed by P.A. Hüe de Fontenay and styled by Benjamin Galopin, we consider all of this and more below.
