On July 9, 1962, Andy Warhol opened his first solo exhibition at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles. With the show, Warhol introduced pop art to the West Coast, displaying historic works such as his “Campbell’s Soup Cans.” As the legendary artist gained fame and recognition, he shifted his artistic vision from everyday objects to figures with more clout. Edie Sedgwick, Candy Darling, and Holly Woodlawn came to top the list of Warhol’s iconic muses. In addition to these names, the artist played host and director to a plethora of inspirational superstars that passed through his Silver Factory in New York. While they may not be as easily recognizable, their glamour and legacy live on in the pop art star’s films and images.
