The house of Yves Saint Laurent is ringing in its 60th anniversary with the exhibit “Yves Saint Laurent Aux Musées” (Yves Saint Laurent at the Museums”) showing at six different Parisian museums, displaying YSL pieces such as his Mondrian dress, accompanied by the art that inspired them.
Curated by Mouna Mekbar, this exhibit will be shown at the Louvre, Paris Museum of Modern Art, Picasso Museum, and the Yves Saint Laurent museum. Inspired by Van Gogh and Picasso, this exhibit will be the first of its time, displaying artworks that directly inspired Saint Laurent.
Consisting of six museums in Paris, each museum will highlight different aspects of the designer, with the Musee d’Orsay highlighting the gender-less fashion that Saint Laurent is notoriously known for, and the Louvre focusing on aspects such as light, gold, and decorum. The Saint Laurent museum will flaunt archives and historical collections for viewers.
The exhibitions will be held from January 29 to May 15.
