Multi-hyphenate entertainer Jared Leto recently announced his casting as the iconic artist Andy Warhol in an upcoming biopic. On the day after what would have been Warhol’s 92nd birthday, Leto posted a gallery of images of the famed artist on Instagram, expressing his gratitude and excitement for the project.

The announcement comes after years of speculation in regards to the possibility of the film and Leto’s attachment. In September 2016, headlines were riddled with reports of Leto’s involvement with a Warhol biopic based on Victor Bockris’ 1989 biography on the pop artist. Leto’s disclosure does not come with any specifics, and it has not yet been confirmed if the projects are related or if any other insider details have shifted since 2016.

The acclaimed actor, lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, and trendsetter has gained a reputation for his mind-blowing transformations throughout his film career. From gaining a dramatic 67 pounds to play Mark David Chapman, the assassin of John Lennon, in the 2007 film Chapter 27 to losing over 30 pounds for his Oscar-winning role as HIV-positive trans woman Rayon in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club, Leto commits to his characters, mind and body. While it’s safe to say a platinum Warhol wig is in the chameleon-like actor’s future, further details on Leto’s forthcoming transformation are yet to come.
