British interiors designer and his eponymous brand Tom Dixon recently launched Tomorrow Channel, a collaborative digital platform and broadcast center to encourage creativity and prevent cabin fever during times of self-isolation. Released every weekday on its social media and new microsite, the Tomorrow Channel highlights some of the key figures in design, architecture, food, music, and more.
Tomorrow Channel’s first transmission spotlighted London eatery Coal Office and its new initiative called The Fresh Food Hub. As restaurants are continuously facing challenges during the coronavirus pandemic, Coal Office is adapting by turning its kitchen into a market, offering locally sourced produce, sharing their recipes, and preparing takeaway orders.
Other transmissions focus on themes of craftsmanship, luminosity, materiality, and music–elements close to Tom Dixon’s brand DNA. These will feature artist Es Devlin, architectural lighting specialists Prolicht, electronics company Teenage Engineering, and music venue Spiritland. Newsflashes from Tom Dixon’s team around the globe will also be released, possibly showing what life is like in the different countries, from Italy’s lockdown–where CEO Hans Hoegstedt is currently confined–to China’s slow return to normalcy.
“Can we do some good? Maybe not–but we can try and whilst we are at it we will build some stuff, communicate our latest ideas, improve the spaces around us, share some recipes, and find out what’s happening with our friends around the globe,” Dixon said. “It’s not about our products–it’s about our friends and partners, it’s about our network. It’s about all of us and about tomorrow.”
Tom Dixon’s Tomorrow Channel transmissions are now online and updated daily, Monday through Friday.
