After announcing their collaboration earlier this week, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion released their highly anticipated single, “Wap,” with an internet-breaking music video today. The song’s visuals include lavish candy-colored sets, bodacious costumes, roaming tigers, and an impressive lineup of celebrity cameos. Among the surprise guest appearances is Normani, dancing in a black and white houndstooth ensemble complete with a beret, gloves, and lace-up heels.
Fans quickly realized that the singer’s look channels a vintage shot of supermodel Naomi Campbell. The original image captured by Ellen Von Unwerth pictures the model dressed in Azzedine Alaïa’s 1991 Tati collection.
The style influence comes as no surprise—Normani has taken inspiration from the supermodel in the past. For Halloween 2019, the singer dressed up as Campbell, donning a leopard print look inspired by Alaïa’s Fall/Winter 1991 collection. Normani, sporting a bodysuit, beret, gloves, and matching stiletto booties, recreated the original Herb Ritts photo down to the last detail.
Aside from the pop star’s standout fashion moment, other high-profile cameos include Kylie Jenner, Rosalía, Mulatto, and Ruby Rose.
