Queen Elizabeth II became Instagram’s latest influencer last month while on a visit to the royal archives at London’s Science Center Museum. The monarch, who turns 93 today, posted a letter written in 1843 addressed to her great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert. Posted on the royal family’s account, the queen sported yet another version of the latest fluorescent trend in her Instagram debut.

Since the obsession over millennial pink, color trends seem to centralize around the newest bright idea: neon. The resurgence of ’80s-style neon coloring has withstood constant recycling fashion trends as one of the ultimate tran-seasonal looks. Neon was seen on all our favorite celebrities, used across runways, and now, even the queen is incorporating the trend into her royal closet.

The queen broke the internet on her 90th birthday when she was seen in a hot green ensemble by Stewart Parvin addressing the crowds. Twitter users began using the hashtag #Neonat90, focusing on the queen’s use of the popularized highlighter tone. The outfit singlehandedly caused the sales of neon products to rise 137 percent in the UK.

Soon after, the queen attended a celebration lunch braving the dreary London weather in a monochromatic bright magenta two-piece from Karl Ludwig Couture. In-house hat designer Angela Kelly, serves the queens needs for a matching neon hat with all her coined looks.

The queen’s wardrobe shows neon style isn’t exclusive to the younger, trend-driven generations. Her bold looks consisting of a three-piece coat, dress, and custom hat to match has become a signature of the royal, showing neon at 93 is just as chic.
