In case you haven’t seen the videos of Rihanna sneaking into your local Sephora, the multi-hyphenate is releasing her highly anticipated Fenty Skin line the day after Christmas. But Rih’s dive into the skincare market isn’t the first we’ve seen recently. Pharell’s unisex skincare company Humanrace launched back in November followed by a rumor that Lady Gaga’s Haus of Gaga would possibly be launching its own line of skincare in the near future. With celebrity beauty brands extending their portfolios into the skincare world, we’re wondering just when did celebrities become so obsessed with our skin?

If you’re anything like us, your skincare regimen went from three steps to thirty since the start of quarantine. While some carve out a quick winged eyeliner or a dab of concealer to hide the exhaustion for a Zoom meeting, makeup has seemingly taken a backseat in the pandemic era where work and school are confined to the barriers of the home. With masks being a necessary accessory, even stepping out of the house means having half your face covered. The fact of the matter is, with our faces covered up, many are going barefaced relishing in taking care of the skin while relaxing at home. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought another plague on the world– “maskne,” or mask acne. According to a survey by market research firm Dynata of 1,000 women across the US, more than 80 percent noticed an increase in one skin problem or another since COVID-19 hit. One in four say they’re experiencing more acne, but that percentage bumps to 55 for those surveyed under 25. As with many brands at the moment, these beauty moguls are simply pivoting their product towards trends of the times as people choose more to take better care of themselves from the inside out while resting and having the time to do so. To save your skin, CR rounds up all the celebrities making the foray into skincare.

Loops Beauty launched back in February with a range of colorful hydrogel masks for the face, lips, and eyes to indulge in while reading one of Emrata’s favorites off her book list.

Haus Laboratories by Lady Gaga

Mother monster has put blood, sweat, and tears into developing her coveted Haus Labs line of color cosmetics which launched in September of 2019, but most recently Gaga sparked rumors of a new skin care line which sent the internet buzzing . The songstress posted a video to her Instagram detailing her thoughts on #skincare, while the she may have suggested that these unnamed products she’s been working on are just made for her, fans continue to speculate in the comment section hoping that they’ll soon be available to the masses.
