Cardi B was born to flex, diamonds, and now heat protectant spray, on her neck.

This past Monday, the CR star and “WAP” singer announced she would be embarking on her next endeavor: a haircare line.

In a series of tweets, Cardi B said the focus of her new line, whose name has yet to be announced, will be about “educating” people on Afro-Latina hair textures.

Latina women are not a monolith, as Cardi stated. Hair textures differ from ethnicity and region in Latin America, the rapper wrote, and the misconception that everyone has the same features is widespread.

“Being Hispanic/Latina don’t make your hair long , don’t make your skin light or don’t make your face features slim specially Latin countries from the Caribbean islands,” Cardi wrote. “Dna have something to do with your hair not your nationality…”

Taking to social media, Latina hip-hip star said that the motivation to join LLC Twitter was driven by trolls commenting on her natural hair. Ingrained in Latin society, there is a stereotype that there are two types of hair– pelo bueno and pelo malo, or good and bad hair, respectively. The distinction is based on hair texture, a difference that plays into racist stereotypes of Afro-Latina women. Through education, Cardi hopes to change that.

The star revealed she’s implemented the line in her own daily routine for a while now, focusing on growth and moisture. She’s been using products on her hair and her daughter, Kulture’s hair as well. Cardi has dealt with maintaining her hair since a child, showing off her natural locks in a few iconic baby photos on the gram. Like mother like daughter, right?

Stay tuned for all the details regarding Cardi B’s new hairline. We can’t wait to see how the latest beauty guru takes on hot girl summer with her new products.
