Acne Studios is continuing its sustainability initiative with the house’s third capsule collection utilizing upcycled fabrics in minimizing the impact of the fashion industry’s immense damage to our environment.
Made with an idea of a colorful futuristic foray into the hiking world, the technical and utilitarian garments are made with a tie-dye pattern. The camouflage outerwear is used from nylon fabrics from previous seasons alongside a tie-dye process with environmentally certified dyes.
The pieces in this sustainable collection are genderless and multi-seasonal. Three types of nylon fabrics are creatively transformed and repurposed: lightweight nylon in bright pink or coral red, more structured nylon in almond brown, and a cotton-blend ripstop in khaki green or almond brown. The outerwear such as a long or short hooded jacket, a short-sleeved trek shirt, trousers, shorts, a hat that protects the neck, a backpack and socks become a sharp set for a fashionable hiking day in the mountains. There are also graphic symbols printed on some of the pieces, playing on the orienteering theme.
The collection is now available in Acne Studios stores and on acnestudios.com starting April 29.
