Wales Bonner Launches Newest Collaboration with Adidas Originals

Wales Bonner and Adidas Originals have returned to update their Autumn/Winter 2020 collection. The latest collaboration explores the diasporic connections between Britain and the Caribbean through streamlined and thoughtful menswear silhouettes.

The Spring/Summer 2021 capsule titled “Essence” explores the Jamaican origins of dancehall music throughout the early 1980s. With energetically colorful designs, the designer reimagines traditional British tailoring in a way that both harkens to the past while also placing the collection into modern lexicon. Wales Bonner elevates vintage silhouettes through the incorporation of subtle design details like ribbed knits, mesh paneling, and check prints.

In addition to the collection’s thoughtful menswear, Wales Bonner updates silhouettes of the Adidas Samba and Nizza sneakers. Harkening to the world of football, the silhouettes both evoke a sense of rich heritage and style while remaining wholly athletic. Available in three carefully crafted colorways, the sneakers are a bridge between the spheres of athletics, culture, and aesthetics.

Also a part of the collection is an evocative video lensed by Jeano Edwards. Filmed in Jamaica, the video follows a group of young Jamaicans who play football and ride horses—all while stylishly sporting the newest collection. Subtly complimenting the vibrant collaboration, the short film highlights Wales Bonner’s focus on exploring the cultural and sartorial connections between Britain and the Caribbean.
