When we think camp, we think Gucci. When we think Gucci, we think camp.

The Gucci we all know and love has definitely been embodying camp for a while now, from Gucci models walking the runway with replicas of their heads to basically anything Harry Styles has worn from the brand. But now, camp is taking on a whole new meaning for Gucci for its collaboration with The North Face, a pinnacle outdoor brand popular in the hiking, mountaineering, and yes, camping world.

The North Face x Gucci collection, one of the most anticipated collabs of the year, was revealed last December and channels the spirit of exploration and is based on original The North Face designs from the 1970s. The collection includes clothing and accessories that are equally as fashionable as they are practical practical, including retro climbing gear-inspired backpacks, belt bags, a tent, and a sleeping bag for anyone who wants to camp in fashion. The collab also includes hiking boots, beanies, shirts, and coats. The North Face x Gucci camel GG canvas cropped down bomber jacket is already a favorite, with A$AP Rocky seen wearing it in New York City.

Creative Director Alessandro Michele is known for commissioning videos to accompany collections in the past, which we also saw with GucciFest last November. The North Face x Gucci collection is no different, with the brand commissioning artist Sean Vegezzi for a documentary video. Bringing his passion for the outdoors to the wilderness of the Alps, Vegezzi builds a world where beauty and function coexist in this documentary.

The documentary takes us through the Dolomites in Italy and the Sierra Nevada in California, which serves as a backdrop and character, animating the trendsetting yet tactical boldly-colored pieces. The film also features an additional glimpse into the design process as well as conversations with Michele, Designer David Whetstone, American professional rock climber Nina Williams, and graffiti artist Post AOW.

Several art walls have also popped up around the world to celebrate the collection. From an art wall showing a down puffer jacket in Milan to a vibrant floral scene in Hong Kong, each design is unique. But what they all have in common is the combined logo of The North Face and Gucci. Using the iconic three curved lines of The North Face logo, which is an homage to Yosemite National Park’s famed Half Dome, and the green-red-green Gucci stripe below, the joint logo marries the two brands together perfectly.

The North Face x Gucci collection is available in various pin locations around the world, including Brooklyn and Los Angeles, starting Jan. 6. If you can’t get to any of the temporary shops, the collection will also become available online and in select Gucci locations beginning mid-January.

The Gucci x The North Face collaboration is now available in select boutiques worldwide.
