Moschino Goes Skateboarding In Its New Collab With Palace

Another season, another Moschino collab. This time, Jeremy Scott partners with London’s zestful skateboard and streetwear brand Palace Skateboards to deliver a lighthearted, in-your-face limited edition collection entitled Palace Moschino. And in this attempt to headline the fashion iconoclasm of both brands, the latest message unifying the realms of European luxury runway fashion and street style is brought to life.

The result is a starter kit for high-fashion skaters: a coalition of outerwear that includes a rainbow cloud-emblazoned puffer and a shearling jacket sewn with a “hug me” textual embellishment and pictorial handprint trope–both are the crown jewels of the collection. Among others, graphic logo sport jersey tees, pink camouflage hoodies, and patchwork composition shirts also stand out as the capsule’s versatile statement pieces. And while only denim jeans are available as pants, they are not shy of flaunting their all-over co-branded monogram or iridescent prints that humorously, acutely intermix the spirits of both Palace and Moschino.

In addition, a buoyant range of understated signature accessories is out for grabs, like the bold pattered motorcycle cap and bucket hat, a soccer scarf and a faux leather milk carton bag, and the Palace Moschino cloud-splashed skateboard for sk8ter boi’s delight. Overall, the collection echoes the theme of “peace, love, and hugs”, according to Scott who has also encouraged Lev Tanju, his friend and founder of Palace, to spearhead the capsule’s design.

This joint effort of Moschino and Palace signifies the return of fashion’s fascination with skate culture, and who better to head-start it than the irreverent Moschino? Accompanied by a playful campaign photographed by the iconic David Sims, the collection seamlessly harmonizes the Italian house’s unrivaled sense of irony and humor with the edgy street aesthetics of Palace. Ending with a note on positivity, 2020 did not come to disappoint the culture of streetwear collabs after all; and no doubt, we will soon see the resurgence of European luxury labels cutting deals with streetwear brands like Palace or even Supreme to give skater culture a high-end rendition.
