Today, Fendi announces Kim Jones as the Artistic Director of women’s ready-to-wear, Haute Couture, and fur collections. The English designer’s first collection with the brand will debut during Milan Fashion Week as part of the Fall/Winter 2021 season.

Jones will work alongside the third-generation of the Italian fashion dynasty, Silvia Venturini Fendi, who serves as creative director of accessories, menswear, and children at the brand. Currently residing as Artistic Director of Menswear at Dior, Jones will split his time between the two illustrious houses.

His appointment marks his first real exploration of women’s collections. Jones will be stepping into a role previously held by Karl Lagerfeld, before the French designer’s passing in February 2019.

Both the LVMH and Fendi families have expressed their excitement and eagerness for the on-boarding designer. Fendi’s chairman and CEO Serge Brunschwig extended his warm welcome, saying “I am thrilled to welcome Kim Jones at Fendi. Kim is one of the most talented and relevant designers of today. With Silvia Venturini Fendi, who has virtuously carried on Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld legacy, Kim will bring his contemporary one-of-a-kind point of view into the world of Fendi.”
