Music icon Mariah Carey knows we’re all obsessed with her. The chart-topping singer and songwriter has announced that she will be releasing her memoir, titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey, on September 29, coinciding with the 30-year anniversary of her self-titled debut album. The book was written in collaboration with activist and fashion expert Michaela Angela Davis, and promises to chart Carey’s rise to stardom, her public relationships, life behind-the-scenes, and more.

Covering a career that spans more than three decades, Carey’s memoir will contain the personal story behind her achievements, which include selling more than 200 million records, winning five Grammy Awards, and hit singles such as “Fantasy,” “Hero,” and perhaps the most famous Christmas song of all time, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Carey is also scheduled to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year.

The memoir will also be available via audiobook, which Carey will reportedly record herself, complete with musical moments to accompany the narration.

According to the artist, it took her “a lifetime” to work up enough courage to write a memoir. “I want to tell the story of the moments—the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams, that contributed to the person I am today,” the singer wrote in a recent Instagram post addressed to fans.

The process of writing a memoir is challenging yet rewarding, and Carey’s experience was no exception. “Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling, and healing,” she admitted. “My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”
