Altuzarra Partners With Etsy for First Home Collection

Fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra has teamed up with eight Etsy artisans to create a limited edition home decor collection filled with one-of-a-kind pieces. Elements of Altuzarra’s own brand are translated to the accessories through handwoven patterns, tie-dyed colors, and the designer’s signature cognac color. The collection features items such as woven baskets, silk pillows, stoneware vases, and much more.

The collaboration highlights the ready-to-wear designer’s love of handmade quality goods, with each item celebrating individual style and technique. In support of small businesses, Altuzarra worked with creators from around the world with family-run or one-person operations. Coordinating with all the different makers, the collection took over a year to finalize.

“I love nothing more than to be home with my family and friends, so designing for the home felt like something that connected with how I live,” Altuzarra said. “The idea of being surrounded by objects and furnishings that bring you peace, joy and happiness, is so important. I wanted to create a collection that would bring people a sense of comfort and joy. The collection showcases the world of Altuzarra, and speaks to my love of craftsmanship and of the handmade.”

Launching during Earth Month, the Altuzarra x Etsy pieces were also developed through sustainable practices, such as using excess materials from previous Altuzarra collections. This environmentally conscious approach to design matches Etsy’s values, as it was the first major shopping site to offset 100 percent of its carbon emissions from shipping.
