Pasha Harulia is no long-term fan of fashion–even though she’s spent the past three years in it. She was discovered on social media as a 16-year old when a talent agency came across her profile on the Russian version of Facebook.

Harulia has gone from being a high schooler in Ukraine, to becoming a fixture of fashion. Hand-picked by Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2018 campaign, as well as by Demna Gvasalia for Vetements’ and Balenciaga’s recent shows, she enjoys the creative aspect of the industry, but dislikes its commercialism.

CR sat down with Harulia to talk about the ins and outs of modeling, her plans of opening up a bar in Kiev one day, and her surprising past as a player in an all-female varsity baseball team.

You’ve modeled for three years now. What are your favorite things about modeling and fashion?
The people, of course, they’re good and interesting. I love the traveling, too. I’m a very artsy person and I love [the creative] part of the industry. I love to see people creating interesting things, but I don’t like the business part of it. I want to see [the fashion] but I don’t want to know anything else about it, the ‘trying to sell it’ part. It doesn’t interest me.

You recently starred both in Prada’s Spring/Summer 2018 and Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2018 campaigns. How were those experiences?
“Prada is the best thing to get to do as a woman. I love [Miuccia Prada’s] aesthetic in general, so it was amazing to get to be a part of.”

Do you have any role models?
“Oh, my mom! It is always like that, isn’t it? The first role model you get is your mom or dad, if you’re lucky.”

Can you talk a little bit about your daily beauty routine. Do you have one?
“Yes, I clean my face everyday like everybody else. And I also like some masks, but I don’t think I do anything special that other people aren’t doing. Although, I just recently discovered this American [skincare] brand called Youth to the People, it’s very nice.”

What’s something we’d be surprised to know about you?
“I’m an open book, nothing to hide! But I was playing baseball in high school which, for Ukraine, is very unusual. It was a female baseball team–so it was very interesting.”

Do you still play?
“No, because I don’t have much time to do something outside of this industry, but it was fun.”

Except for modeling, what do you like to do?
“I honestly don’t have much time, but I really want to open up my own bar in Ukraine, so I’m working on that. My boyfriend is a lawyer, so we are working together. It’s a hobby, a dream–but we’ll see how it goes.”

Do you have any future plans?
“I think I’m gonna do modeling for another four or five years, hopefully, we’ll see. And after that I really want to study because I started working right after high school. I would love to go to a university in Europe somewhere, in France hopefully.”

What do you want to study?
“It’s either going to be Biology or law. Both are good for me!”
