Over 1,300 applicants entered this year’s (the fifth edition) of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, and after six months of jury, Doublet has been named the winner. Easily one of the most prestigious design competitions today, the series is overseen by a council of powerhouse fashion names—the likes of Nicolas Ghesquière, Karl Lagerfeld, Delphine Arnault, Clare Waight Keller, Jonathan Anderson, Marc Jacobs, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and others—and propels new creatives into the often-hard-to-breach world of luxury fashion.
Doublet was chosen out of nine finalists, many of whom challenged the conventions of their craft. The announcement took place in Paris at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, where LV faces Emma Stone and Jaden Smith revealed Doublet to be this year’s titular winner, receiving a grant of 300,000 euros and a personalized technical and financial support from the LVMH for a 12-month period following the award. Smith awarded the special prize to Rokh, who took home 150,000 euros plus a year’s worth of mentoring.
