London Fashion Week Shifts Its Show Schedule by One Day

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has been in talks with the British Fashion Council to ensure that each city’s Fashion Week schedule is full and fairly attended. For the first time ever this September, there will be a one day break between the end of New York Fashion Week and the start of London Fashion Week.

The change is meant to deter editors from skipping out on shows at the end of the day in New York and the start of the day in London due to the tight travel schedule. For years now, the red-eye flight from Manhattan has been a rite of passage for sleep-deprived show-goers attending events in both countries. This year, the last New York show will wrap on September 13th and London Fashion Week will officially kick off on September 15th.

Also new to the London schedule this year are two visiting runways from Tommy Hilfiger and Armani. The latter hasn’t showed in London since 2006 and will be hosting its Emporio Armani show on September 17th to help fête the opening of its newly revamped Bond Street store. Hilfiger will bring the next edition of its see-now, buy-now event with Gigi Hadid to the city on September 19th for the first time.

Burberry, which began radically rethinking its collections last year, has elected to switch its newly combined men’s and women’s runway event to show on Saturday night at 7pm on September 16th. A full provisional show schedule is expected to be released by the British Fashion Council later today.
