Proenza Schouler Fall 2016

Champagne was served in the lobby of the Whitney Museum, but it wasn’t long before the elevators took us up to Proenza Schouler’s clean show space lined with one row of metallic silver seating.

Let’s start with the shoes and by saying that we hope to see all of the versions make it to production. Perfect cap toe boots with comfortable looking circular block heels came in every height and in an exciting amount color ways. Some had lacing up the back, one of the collections biggest themes.

The best examples were a long knit dress held together with two rows of laces positioned to flatter and elsewhere, laces used to cinch tunics with long slits. A lot of the looks were styled together with long layers, which you’d need some height to pull off.

Aside from that fact, it’s clear that a lot of thought was given to the customer. They announced last week that they’d be making select runway looks available at their Soho Greene Street location starting today February 18th through the 21th. It wasn’t just that. The entire collection was like it was built around what the most stylish women are actually wearing right now. They didn’t reinvent, but they gave a spin that made it wonderfully Proenza. Appreciation came in the form of the loudest applause we’ve hear all week, and it the museum’s acoustics weren’t to blame.
