Since taking the helm at Gucci, Alessandro Michele has reimagined the brand’s aesthetic to include mythological creatures and symbolic emblems steeped in Italian Renaissance history. He’s also staged a ’70s Soul Train disco and photographed exotic animals amongst Milan’s most iconic landmarks. For his Fall 2017 Gucci campaign, he’s looked to space exploration and has recreated a Star Trek-inspired galaxy.

Michele did hint at the otherworldly ad concept on Instagram earlier this year. Back in April, Gucci posted a series of casting videos featuring aliens, cyborgs, human animal-hybrids, and a few earthlings. This motley crew all star in the Fall ads, which were directed and photographed by Glen Luchford. The campaign film depicts their adventures on a number of unchartered planets and was shot on the original set from Star Trek’s 1960s TV iteration.
