Summer Seekers

New York summers might be extra steamy, but luckily there’s no shortage of nearby escapes. Every Friday, Manhattanites leave the island by the bus-full for the chicer parts of Long Island—and we could have photographed our summer swim feature there—but instead, we opted for a different sort of island: Coney Island offers city dwellers a necessary respite with 3 miles of sandy beach, a boardwalk, spinning tea cups, Nathan’s hot dogs, and the infamous Cyclone roller coaster. No matter how old you are, summer is a time to be a kid again.
