From jeweled eye pieces at Area to face-framing flower petals at Giambattista Valli, face adornments were one of the biggest trends last fashion month. Now at Paris Fashion Week Men’s, the look appeared on the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall/Winter 2020 runway in the form of futuristic chrome plates that gave a bionic, mask-like effect to the model’s visages.
Following the majority of Virgil Abloh’s lineup of modern men’s suiting and outerwear, seven cloud-printed looks that coordinated with the runway’s stratospheric set closed the show, adding an otherworldly end note. These ensembles were completed with the bionic pieces, which gave a chrome, sci-fi effect, which coordinated with the reflective sunglasses that accessorized the looks.
The collection was Abloh’s “ode to freedom and thought,” complemented by a stratospheric, surrealist set. Models weaved through a blue sky runway littered with flotsam like a pair of scissors, spool of thread, and pencil all in giant proportions. Along with the final looks and face adornments, the cloudscape invited viewers to delight at Abloh’s exploration of time and space.
