With her runway charisma and effortless elegance, Iman is the embodiment of the word “supermodel.” Since her discovery in the late ’70s while attending university in Nairobi, Kenya, the Somalian-born model has made many industry-defining moments. She became one of the most prominent supermodels of the ’80s, and her legacy lives on in the fashion world. From paving the way for Black models to creating a shade-inclusive beauty line before it was standard, Iman was a pioneer among her peers. On the catwalk, she was a particular favorite of Thierry Mugler, but also walked for the likes of Chanel, Saint Laurent, and Versace. In celebration of her birthday, CR rounds up Iman’s most memorable runway looks.
