Remembering Courtney Love’s Personal Style Blog

START
Almost nine years ago today, Courtney Love started what was arguably the greatest fashion blog in the world. During the height of the blogger era, when Sea of Shoes and Fashion Toast and Tavi Gevinson’s Style Rookie ruled the web, the blonde grunge icon stumbled in with What Courtney Wore Today, now immortalized via Tumblr, as part of a mission to erase bad press. A peculiar mix of heavily watermarked photos from Love at various fashion events and shockingly low-quality iPhone snaps of the former Hole frontwoman trying on outfits in her apartment and at stores, the blog was a refreshingly authentic glimpse into her life. Though Love admitted she had a slew of “co-bloggers” helping her post, she contributed frequently (as evidenced by the occasionally incoherent prose and “CLC” sign-offs). From Hermès leather dresses and “Versace, as in Gianni,” (no faux Chanel, sadly), What Courtney Wore Today was a fascinating chronicle into Love’s famously high-low sartorial aesthetic. In honor of the rock and style legend’s 55th birthday today, CR compiles the top 10 best looks from her blog.
