Crying on your couch and eating buckets of ice cream to cope post relationship break up is so 2016. Los Angeles therapist Jane Reardon and Stila Cosmetics founder, Jeanine Lobell have developed an app called “Rx Breakup” to guide users through parting ways with a significant other. In a statement the app’s originators explained, “These days, relationships and breakups often take place in the digital sphere. We thought, ‘Why can’t break-up recovery take place there, too?”

The program lasts 30 days, combining Reardon’s clinical expertise and Lobell’s aesthetic eye. Each day Rx Breakup gives the user three tasks to help process their emotional state. It analyses one’s frame of mind, offers a task or objective to help cope, and then assigns a therapeutic writing task. The app helps users navigate everything from social media etiquette to identifying future red flags with new potential partners. To keep it lighthearted, Jane and Jeanine tasked British artist Jo Radcliffe with peppering in fun and motivational animations.

In a few months Rx Breakup will release an update that includes a social media function. It will allow users to communicate and share their progress, bringing new meaning to the phrase lonely hearts club.

Rx Breakup is available for free now on the App Store.
