Now Casting: Agnes Nieske

When Agnes Nieske found out that she was selected as one of five up-and-coming models to star in Céline’s newly-released Fall 2015 campaign, she thought the news was too good to be true. “I didn’t go crazy. I just kept thinking that they might cancel me,” Nieske says. “I never thought I’d do a campaign so quickly, let alone Céline.” And to follow the likes of Joan Didion’s Spring campaign for Céline, no less. It was during that same spring season that 17 year-old Agnes was scouted in her home town in Amsterdam. “I had never even walked in a pair of heels before I was a model and I’d never been in an airplane until I was booked for Céline,” she says. A lot has changed since then and we have an inkling that things are only picking up speed. World, meet Agnes:

How did come to be in the new Céline campaign?
“I think because the casting director, Michelle Lee put me on option for it. I am so thankful that she did. Thank you, Michelle Lee! I was so excited as soon as I knew it was real.”

What is your favorite modeling career moment so far?
“It’s difficult to call just one because I really like them all, but my favorite moment so far was the show I did for Lanvin in Dubai. I walked with my Dutch model friend, Marjan Jonkman and we had so much fun together and the show was great.”

Favorite designers?
“I really like Céline because I want to wear all of it and I really love their bags. Céline bags are just perfect.”

Who are your role models?
“My parents are my role models because they’re always so positive, even during difficult times. They’ve taught me that anything that’s hard, only makes you a stronger person. They’ve always been there for me and they give me all of the love that I need.”

What is the best modeling advice you ever received?
“Just stay true to who you are and give back to the world as much as you possibly can. My manager and family have both said that to me.”

Favorite beauty trick?
“If you have dry skin, get a really nice face massage. I love and swear by them!”

Which actor would play you in a movie?
“I don’t know, but if you were to ask me which actor would play me in a cartoon, then I would say SpongeBob SquarePants because he’s quite like me. He truly enjoys every day, is polite, and is there for all of his friends whenever they need him. SpongeAggie would be my name though.”

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
“I really don’t know. Everything is happening so fast that I just don’t think about it. I am sure it will come to me. I know that modeling can have a short life span for some. I’ve always wanted to do something to help others, so maybe I’ll start a foundation to care for people in need. Whatever I’m doing, I just want to make people around me happy.”

Do you have any new projects coming up?
“This month, I’m going to Tokyo with my friend Marjan Jonkman for three weeks to work. After that I’ll be going to London, Milan, Paris, and maybe even New York for Fashion Week. It’s all so exciting and very humbling.”
