Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper Will Perform at Coachella This Week

In addition to headlining Coachella over the weekend, it’s been confirmed that Lady Gaga will be filming scenes for her first official movie role at the festival. The singer is playing the lead in the remake of A Star is Born opposite Bradley Cooper, who’s also directing the film. The plot line follows Cooper’s character, Jackson Maine, a struggling country music star who discovers up-and-coming talent Ally, played by Gaga. The film will feature an original soundtrack performed and written by Gaga, who will be credited under her legal name, Stefani Germanotta, for the first time.

Filming of Cooper and Gaga’s scenes at Coachella will take place tomorrow and Wednesday, April 19th. Reportedly, the duo are acting out a massive mock concert for the cameras. Fans have been called upon to attend as extras, playing concertgoers. An invitation on the Coachella app instructed those wishing to attend to dress up in their country western best: “All you Monsters that can attend should get decked out in your most comfortable denim and boots, throw on a Stetson.”

Not soon after the invite went live, Gaga posted the first behind the scenes photo of her and Cooper rehearsing for the scene on her Instagram account. „I am so excited to star in my first movie alongside someone I’m so lucky to call my friend,“ she wrote in the caption. „I always wanted to be an actress on the big screen. The story of A Star Is Born is so special and I’m so grateful to Bradley for making my dream come true. Can’t wait for you to meet Ally. She has her first scene in 5…“

This is the fourth remake of the film since its original debut in 1937. Gaga’s character was played by Judy Garland in 1954 and Barbara Streisand in 1976. Cooper’s remake is slated for release in Fall of next year.
