The Saint Laurent Menswear Spring/Summer 2021 was shown in Isola Della Certosa in Venice where creative director Anthony Vaccarello commissioned artists Doug Aitken for an installation, Green Lens as the show connected art from the historical past, present, and future, like Saint Laurent’s ’70s romantic capes, lace shirts, and skinny pants in Venetian rich jewels, velvet, and satin.
The futuristic romantic show brought along influential guests such as Hailey Bieber, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anja Rubik, Mica Argañaraz, Rick Owens, and a personal guest of Vaccarello, American rapper and songwriter 24kGoldn. The latest singer-songwriter on the scene debut album 4x Platinum hit “MOOD” was number one on Billboard for 8 weeks. The song exploded after his song was featured on a flow of TikTok videos and has been streamed more than 1.5 billion times globally. He is also a further embodiment of Saint Laurent for his blurring craft of songwriting and the fashion industry. In 2019, his debut single “Valentino,” rose him to superstardom. He may have entered the music scene during the pandemic but his love of merging genres like rock and hip-hop, fashion and music, and social media and music, creates a new stream of consciousness of the possibilities of creativity under 24kGoldn’s mind.
24kGoldn participates in the fashion industry in any way he can, from a custom shoe deal with Lanvin, to his attendance as a personal guest of Kerby and Pyer Moss in NYC to see fashion history be made. Now, he joins Vaccarello in Venice for YSL.
The rapper documents his journey in YSL in a visual diary, where the singer poses by the sea with a pebble YSL logo installation and classical Venetian architecture where art and fashion meet.
