Claire Waight Keller Will Debut Her First Standalone Givenchy Men’s Show

Pitti Immagine Uomo announced that Givenchy will be the guest designer at the 96th circuit of the biannual menswear trade show, to be held in Florence from June 11 to 14. Clare Waight Keller, the artistic director of the French fashion house, is slated to present the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2020 menswear collection on June 12.

The four-day event has established itself as the destination for men’s fashion, with buyers, editors, and menswear aficionados attending Pitti Uomo each season. In addition to well-known brands and featured guest designers including Craig Green and Y/Project, the event also highlights fashion industry newcomers from around the globe.

Givenchy’s addition to the Pitti Uomo line-up marks Waight Keller’s first stand-alone men’s runway, and follows her successful menswear presentation in January that departed from the co-ed shows that she had previously done since helming Givenchy in 2017. Pitti Uomo offers designers a creative platform for brand installations and exhibitions unconstrained from the conventions of fashion week, so a spectacle for the upcoming Givenchy men’s debut can be anticipated.

Waight Keller’s push to develop Givenchy’s menswear creatively and commercially comes as the house’s parent company LVMH continues to expand into the men’s market with other brands including Celine. For Givenchy, bringing its refined French style to the Italian-based trade show will help establish its men’s collection separate from its alluring womenswear.
