Here are The 7 Finalists for the 2022 International Woolmark Prize

The Woolmark Company has announced the seven finalists for the 2022 International Woolmark Prize.

Hundreds of applications were reviewed in July of this year by an esteemed panel of industry members and The Woolmark Company to select the remaining contenders : Ahluwalia from the United Kingdom, EGONLAB from France, Jordan Dalah from Australia, MMUSOMAXWELL from South Africa, Peter Do from the United States, Rui from China, and Saul Nash from the United Kingdom. Past winners of the prize include Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Gabriela Hearst, Emily Bode Aujla, Richard Malone, Angel Chen, Rahul Mishra and, most recently, Matty Bovan who styled Lara Stone for CR’s latest issue.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the next generation of creative game-changers to take part in the 2022 International Woolmark Prize,” said John Roberts, the CEO of the Woolmark Company. “As the award continues to evolve, our aim is to support designers to think beyond today, highlighting the innovation, versatility and sustainability of Merino wool and showcase its basis for new technologies to meet the discerning needs of tomorrow’s customer.”

The theme for this year is Play, a celebration of forward-thinking design and innovation. The competition focuses on cultivating new talent under the lens of sustainability. Each finalist will create a collection for Autumn/Winter 2022 of Merino wool showcasing transparency throughout their supply chain. They will be granted AU,000 and access to mentorship for industry leaders like Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Holli Rogers, Sinéad Burke, Sara Sozzani Maino, Shaway Yeh, and Tim Blanks. The winners will be selected by a panel experts from the fashion industry and announced in April of 2022.

The winner of the prize will receive AU0,000 to invest in their business and all finalists will have the opportunity to be stocked at some of the world’s leading stores in the International Woolmark Prize Retailer Network.
