Jean-Paul Gaultier has opened its archives of over 30,000 vintage pieces available for rent online. Items on the site consist of archival runway looks from previous seasons, however, the house plans on launching drops on the site in its return to ready-to-wear after a six-year pause.
Planned to release on Wednesday, Jean-Paul Gaultier hopes to keep the rentals in-house, especially with the growing use of sustainable and slow fashion. The fashion house is taking shopping and renting to new levels, using innovative ways of buying by collaborating with other brands, re-editions of previous styles, and vintage.
With the growing change in fashion, millennials and Gen-Z have pushed the brand to new heights with goals of gender-less fashion and experimental fashion trends. Jean-Paul Gaultier will be renting samples as trends come and go, to keep the vintage items exclusive and relevant to its audience.
Limited items will be sold at other vintage resellers, such as Dover Street Market, and Ssense.com. The online site will launch on October 27th.END
