Here’s a First Look at Fendi x SKIMS Capsule Collection


Math may not be our strong suit, but we do understand that Kim + Kim = Fendi x SKIMS. Fendi’s Artistic Director Kim Jones has joined forces with SKIMS’ very own Kim Kardashian West to codesign a capsule collection. Announced on Monday morning, the Fendi x SKIMS collaboration seeks to introduce the best of both brands, while still maintaining the ingenuity of their aesthetics.

Inspired by sketches of a 1979 archival Fendi collection, the collaboration will draw upon Karl Lagerfeld’s tight sashes, twisted tube tops, and bright bursts of color, while emphasizing fit and form, the cornerstone of SKIMS’ reputation. Logomania meets streamlined silhouettes to birth the next epic era of shapewear.

“The idea for the collaboration came about when my team and I were sitting around a table at the studio in Rome,” explains Jones. “Suddenly, all the women went silent and started looking at their phones. I didn’t know what was going on, but they were waiting for the launch of the new SKIMS collection. It was then that I thought: let’s do something together.”

Mirroring Jones’ statement about their labels’ symmetry, Kardashian West reflects, “Both Fendi and SKIMS have a cultural power very different from each other, but equally as strong. We share a desire to push boundaries, think differently and challenge convention which is why we found so much common ground collaborating on this collection together.”

Formfitting garments built for support are constructed in an engineered velvet, while bonded leather dresses offered in a series of flesh tones tap into SKIMS’ dedicated inclusivity. The collection’s palette features expected neutrals with bursts of fuchsia and army green.

Accessories also appear in the capsule, no doubt amplifying Fendi’s mastery of leather goods. Fendi x SKIMS will feature new iterations of classic bags, such as the Peekaboo, Baguette, Fendi First, and signature Sunshine Shopper. As far as footwear goes, the collection will introduce a shearling hiking sandal as well as a novel take on the Fendi First heel.

Though logomania and shapewear do make the perfect duo, the heart of the collaboration lies in Fendi and SKIMS’ shared mission of constructing garments inclusive of all woman. Jones explains, “My FENDI is about creating something for every woman, every different shape – and that’s something at the heart of SKIMS too. Kim Kardashian West is doing a lot to celebrate inclusivity-including her admirable work with social justice in America- and as a hard-working woman with a family, she is constantly striving to do her best. These values are something to celebrate.”
