Every Look from Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2022

START body

In futuristic glam, Nicolas Ghesquière took a spin on regal and royalty, with a collection from the future. Taking inspiration from styles donned by Marie Antoinette, each look is accessorized to the max, with each model dripping in glitter and satin. Mixing textures and colors, this 28-look show was easy on the eye, with each look becoming more and more intricate as the show progressed.

The collection contrasted pannier hips with denim, the looks were both modern and antiquated. Each look had an element of the future and one of the past, such as hoop skirts paired with modern blouses and shiny, satin lace-up sneakers with peep toes. The different fabrics and textures in each look made each of them unique, with velvet paired with sequins, and satin.

The use of denim in this collection is ironic yet rounds out each look, giving a rustic look that is chic and polished. Denim bike shorts, calling back to dad-core fashion, are paired with an oversized and clean all-white blazer, and a neat pair of denim jeans are paired with a sparkling asymmetrical slinky tunic. Daring and unique, this collection takes on fashion in the most extreme nature.

Layers were key in this collection, by combining mismatched pieces together and utilizing silhouettes and colors to create a dynamic look. Almost every look was paired with large, Mardi Gras-esque sunglasses, eye masks, headwear, and ankle-length shoes in various different forms, all escalating each highly accessorized look. Each look was more interesting than the last, closing with a simple two-piece boxy set of sequins and black lacing detail. Closing out fashion month with a bang, Ghesquière keeps us on our toes in his latest collection subverting all the „rules“ we thought we knew about fashion.
