Remote work might be here to stay. However, working from home does not erase the human need to get out of the house and explore the sites of the world. For quite some time, venturing outside of the house usually meant getting in a car and sitting in traffic.
While cars are surely comfortable, they sometimes invite a sense of emptiness and perhaps make some feel separated from the natural world. Founders of Mate, Christian Adel Michael and Julie Kronstrøm Carton, recognized this void when they created the first fashion-forward foldable E-Bike.
Currently, MATE covered even more ground by record-breaking crowdfunding and secured multi-million euro direct investment from Mirabaud Asset Management through the Mirabaud Lifestyle Impact and Innovation fund (MLII). This win prompted David Wertheimer, Founding Partner of MLII and 5th generation Chanel heir to call MATE “by far the most fashionable E-bike brand,” and has also prompted Wertheimer to invest in MATE. His investment helps the brand expand their fashion partnerships blending the worlds of sporting and style.
What separates MATE from other E-bikes is its emphasis on being fashionable. To MATE, being fashionable means placing an emphasis on design and having the bike become a statement accessory. Additionally, MATE’s emphasis on fashion invites incredible collaborations. Not so long ago, the brand dropped their first big name collaboration with Moncler and released 1,000 units of a special Moncler x MATE.BIKE.
Since its inception, MATE has had a smooth sailing ride. Beyond sales, MATE has an A-list group of investors that just got even stronger thanks to Wertheimer. From Jay-Z’s Marcy Venture Partners, Millie Bobby Brown, and Jessica Chastain, MATE has rapidly built its brand equity.
For MATE, the best is surely yet to come and there have been talks of a new model possible to drop in late 2021. MATE’s future plans are not exactly public yet, but the founding siblings have noted that MATE will be aiming “for the moon.” While that goal seems lofty, anything seems in reach for MATE – especially with their star-studded investors.END
