Prada has announced that it will be donating nearly 200,000 units of medical uniforms—80,000 overalls and 110,000 masks—to healthcare professionals battling the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. The Italian house has already begun production within the Prada factory, which will fulfill daily deliveries to healthcare personnel in the Tuscany Region until April 6.
The announcement from Prada comes less than two weeks after the house’s co-CEOs Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli donated six intensive care and resuscitation units to Milan hospitals. Italy remains the hardest-hit region of the coronavirus pandemic, with recent reports confirming upwards of 69,000 cases. As one of the four fashion capitals, the country has received an outpouring of support from the sartorial community—from Prada’s recent donations to efforts from Moncler, LVMH, and more.
