Carine was inspired by the gender fluid movement overtaking the Spring/Summer 2019 runways, those like designers Rick Owens, Louis Vuitton, Telfar, and Eckhaus Latta among others. As fashion designers continue to eschew gender boundaries (or eliminate them altogether), she teamed up with Steven Klein, whose photographs are often rife with provocative glamour and transgresses norms, for CR Fashion Book Issue 14. Styled by Carine, Klein’s genderless editorial deviates from common perceptions of femininity and masculinity, and turns the concept of gender on its head, showcasing models Cara Taylor, Guinevere Van Seenus, Olley Eley, Bente Oort, Avie Acosta, and Evie Salvail.
