Victoria’s Secret is teaming up with London-based fashion designer Mary Katrantzou for its newest designer collaboration. Katrantzou is known for using bold and whimsical prints in her ready-to-wear collections, often playing with trompe l’oiel illusions. Victoria’s Secret officially revealed the partnership on their Instagram, after posting teaser promos on October 3. Based on the vibrant floral prints used in the announcement, you can expect to see more beautiful patterns in the holiday capsule collection.
With a design aesthetic based in externalizing and boosting confidence, it makes sense that Katrantzou would be Victoria’s Secret’s next partnership. For the capsule collection, the designer is bringing her unique eye and feminine style to match Victoria’s Secret’s sexy bombshell aesthetic. According to Katrantzou, “Everything that Victoria’s Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered—and also having fun with what she is wearing,” she says. “This collaboration is going to be bold, fun and playful.”
Katrantzou is also making her mark on the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which will include a section of her designs. Of course, VS is super secretive about their annual show ahead of the big day, so there are few details about Katranzou’s contributions. Knowing that Katrantzou is the “Queen of Prints” in the fashion world, though, it’s probably a safe to say that we’ll see some bold prints on the VS Angels and throughout the capsule collection. The Victoria’s Secret X Mary Katrantzou looks featured on the runway will also be included in the limited-edition line available in select Victoria’s Secret stores and on VictoriasSecret.com throughout the holiday season.
