Kaia Gerber is in the middle of a busy second fashion month, but her latest campaign shoot is here to remind us of the not-so-humble start to her career. None other than Chanel has chosen the 16-year-old model of the moment to promote its 2018 handbag campaign, which Carine styled. The resulting images have the fashion world marveling at how quickly she is becoming as famous as her mom Cindy Crawford.
Karl Lagerfeld lensed the black-and-white photos, creating a new generation of chic Chanel heritage by having Gerber pose alongside his latest iterations of the brand’s iconic bags. The shoot features fashion’s favorite teen model lounging on a Coco-approved suede sofa in three timeless looks which coordinate with spring purses including the 11.12, the Gabrielle, and the Boy bag.
The campaign, which launched between Milan and Paris Fashion Week, comes at an optimal time for Chanel, its creative director, and its latest face alike. Gerber has been continually generating buzz by walking for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Versace, and Fendi, the last of which premiered Lagerfeld’s latest collection.
With the Chanel show happening on March 6, 2018, it’s only a matter of time before we see the two icons unite again, this time looking ahead to fall.
