Marine Serre has won the 2017 LVMH Prize for Young Designers. The French-Belgian creative is both a design assistant at Balenciaga’s studios and the founder of her eponymous label. This year, she’s already been nominated for the 2017 ANDAM prize and was selected to present at the Hyères Festival in the south of France. She was awarded her winning LVMH title by Rihanna during a ceremony in Paris.

Previous winners of the LVMH prize include Marques Almeida, Thomas Tait, and Grace Wales Bonner. Past runners up for the award include Hood by Air and Jaquemus. Both the publicity and the 300,000 euro grant from LVMH will serve as a tremendous boost to Serre’s fledging design house.

Marine’s first full collection, titled ‘Radical Call for Love,’ will be stocked internationally for the Fall 2017 season at Opening Ceremony, Dover Street Market, and Space Nordstrom in the United States. The line is a multicultural celebration, fusing western sportswear with references to 19th century Arabic dress.
