It’s hard to believe the beloved device we so heavily rely on every day to communicate, consume information, document memories, and so much more was invented nearly half a century ago. After years of experimenting with the transmission of sound, Scottish scientist and inventor Alexander Graham Bell was officially issued a patent for his telephone in 1876, forever altering the ways in which we communicate—and subsequently becoming known as the father of modern communication. To celebrate the anniversary of the telephone, CR revisits some of the most unforgettable phone calls in film.
